New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday will chair a high-level meeting in the evening with ministers to review the situations related to energy in view of West Asia conflict, according to media reports.

What will be the focus of the meeting?

PM Narendra Modi will review the situation related to petroleum products, crude oil, power, and fertiliser sectors.

The high-level meeting will be attended by senior ministers and will focus on ensuring uninterrupted supply, stable logistics and efficient distribution of petroleum products across the country, according to official sources cited by PTI.

According to the officials, authorities are continuous monitoring global developments to protect consumer and industry interests amid the ongoing crisis.

The government is taking proactive steps to safeguard energy security and maintain adequate availability, according to official sources cited by PTI.

Did PM Modi address concerns?

Earlier on March 12, PM Modi urged citizens not to panic over potential fuel supply concerns linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia and further said that the government is closely monitoring the situation.

“The conflict in West Asia has affected global energy supply chains,” PM Modi said, adding that the government continues to operate with an “India first” approach while responding to emerging challenges.

"Continuous efforts are also underway to determine how we can overcome the disruptions that have occurred in the supply chain," Modi said.

What about diplomatic efforts?

Prime Minister Modi has spoken to many global leaders since the start of Middle East conflict, with the US and Israel attacking Iran.

On Saturday, PM Modi spoke with Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss regional developments and strengthen bilateral cooperation.

Both leaders expressed their shared hope that this festive season would usher in a period of peace, stability, and prosperity for the West Asian region.

Due to the ongoing war, the LPG situation remains a matter of concern.
